An 8-day, 7-night itinerary through the states of Amapá and Pará. An authentic experience in a little-known area of the Brazilian Amazon. We will visit the largest rainforest reserve on the planet, the Montanhas do Tumucumaque National Park, the town of Serra do Navio, built in the 1950s in a planned way by an American mining company for the extraction of Manganese, ending in the town of Afuá, known as the Marajoara Venice, as the entire town is built on stilts.

Below is a summary of the tour:

Day July 10th - We leave Macapá for the town of Serra do Navio
Day July 11th to 15th - Visit to the Montanhas do Tumucumaque National Park
Day July 15th - Return to the city of Serra do Navio
Day July 16th - Return to Macapá and visit the city of Afuá in Pará
Day July 17th - Visit to the city of Afuá
Day July 18th - Return to Macapá and end of the expedition

In Serra do Navio the main stars are the Garimpeiro Toads (Dendrobates Tinctorius) and the Harlequin Frogs (Atelopus hoogmoedi), which vary greatly in color according to where they are found. The city is nestled in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, and the roads around our hotel are great for bird and primate watching.

In the Tumucumaque National Park, we'll go on day and night hikes to observe the fauna and get to know the giant trees of the Amazon. The park is known for having the largest trees in the entire Amazon, which can reach an impressive 80 meters in height. One of the highlights of this part of the expedition are our night trails. It's amazing to see how the forest comes alive during this time. You can see various species of arachnids, insects, amphibians and snakes. We are accompanied by researcher Rodrigo Tavares, whose eye is trained to find animals at night. On this tour we'll go up the Amapari River, on an 80km journey to the Rustic Experience Center (CRV), located in the middle of the Park. The CRV was built in the middle of the forest using rustic artisanal techniques, with a basic kitchen, dry toilets and hammocks, giving maximum priority to contact with the natural environment. There we will sleep in hammocks or tents, according to the participant's preference.

We end our tour in the town of Afuá, known as the Marajoara Venice. Just 84 kilometers from Macapá, the city of Afuá is located in a floodplain region, so the entire city is suspended on stilts. Even the streets! The means of transport is the Bicitáxi, a non-motorized four-wheeled vehicle assembled from two bicycles. It's great fun and 100% ecological. It's a great opportunity to get to know Marajoara riverside life and marvel at the local cuisine. Tacacá, shrimp on the stove, maniçoba, shrimp mujica, fish, açaí and much more!

The team is made up of local biologist and researcher Rodrigo Tavares, who has worked for more than 10 years with fauna surveys and research in the region, and nature photographer and cameraman Rafael Guadeluppe, founder of the video production company Latin Wild Films and author of the documentary about the Atlantic Forest "The Pulse of the Atlantic Forest".

In short, it's an expedition for those who like nature trails, are willing and also interested in wildlife watching. We will have a lot of contact with the riverside culture and exchange experiences about Photography and Nature Documentaries.
